Rio Carnival

Back in February I went on the trip of a lifetime,  Rio de Janeiro to enjoy the carnival! Those people know how to throw a party!
Although Carnival is celebrated in towns and villages throughout Brazil and other Catholic countries, Rio de Janeiro has long been regarded as the Carnival Capital of the World. The Rio Carnaval is not only the biggest Carnival, it has also a benchmark against which every other carnival is compared and one of the most interesting artistic events on the Globe. Almost everyone has heard of the Rio Carnival. Foreign visitors to it alone number around 500,000 every year.
I travelled with two close friends, we had been warned before we went about safety in Rio but we had no problems whatsoever with this, everyone was friendly. And even staying in a hostel with no front door or locks on any doors inside we had nothing stolen and felt safe at all times. 
We attempted to learn some samba before we went, but really this was no use because when you arrive in the various street parties its too crowded for much dancing, just a lot of drinking and fun!

Tips for Carnival

• If hitting the Copacabana beach, get a tan before you go!My white scottish skin got more than a fews stares!
• Buy a small bikini :) embrace those curves on the beach, the curvier the better!
• Learn a little bit of samba incase you choose to join in some of the dancing in the streets.
• Common sense but do not wear jewellery, carry large amounts of cash or expensive cameras,phones etc.
• Take change to buy drinks from the street vendors.
• American dollars is not accepted!(only robbing that happened was by the Bureau de change in Scotland!)
• People are very touchy feely in the street parties, just go with the flow.
• Being called an Aeroplane is apparently a good thing ;)
• Try the Coxinhas!!!amazing!
• Have fun, the brazilians are passionate about dance, music and this carnival, so get into the spirit of things and dont expect to get much sleep!

RSAC MOTORSPORT LIMITED The RSAC Three Lochs Classic.

This event is based at the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club at Rhu, which hosts the start, finish and the Concours d’Elegance. 

There are two routes, a “wee” route of around 35 miles suitable for cars in the Veteran class and any others whose drivers prefer it, and a “big” route of around 65 miles for everybody else. 

The cut-off date for entries is 1981.
This run is full of all sorts of classic cars, some reaching over 100 years old. Watching the cars along the route which winds round the lochs it feels like you have gone back in time.

Brayon Classic Engineering featured at the Transport Museum


These shots where taken last year not long after the opening of the new eagerly awaited transport museum. The new museum mixes classic cars, trains, bikes ect all under one roof where the old vehicles mixed with the modern design of the building give it a real quirky feel and escapes the dated look the old museum suffered from.

Brayon Classic Engineering had been invited along to show a collection of their race cars built for the seasons races. 
Brayon Classic is based on the West Coast of Scotland, their aim is to service the classic car industry, including classic  race car preparation. At the workshop they undertake work on most classic cars, classic commercial, kit cars and "one off's". 

From mechanical servicing electrical work, part or full restorations and engine building.

A Cold Morning on Loch Lomond


Luss is well known for being a picturesque village, but if you get up a few hours before anyone else is even alive, then its views are even more breathtaking...

Escape up North





The north of Scotland has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Perfect escape from busy city life. Bbqs on the beach followed by walks on the sand...

After spending over an hour on a boat to go spot seals, we returned to the harbour where there where two big seals waiting to greet us back.
